The parent company was established over 40 years ago by former J.P. Morgan & Co. Managing Director, Maurice Bonham-Carter, initially providing reservations and marketing services to Caribbean and Mexican resorts, a number of them owned or managed by Mr. Bonham-Carter’s companies. Over the years, the company has expanded to offer luxury travelers in the Americas truly memorable vacations at premier resorts in most “Sun, Sand and Sea” destinations around the world, including, besides the Caribbean and Mexico, the best of Southern Europe, Asia, the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

In 2019, ID Travel initiated a merger with CARIBTOURS, the UK’s premier luxury holiday operator servicing most of the same destinations as ID Travel, and in 2024 ID Travel acquired Island Escapes, Australia's leading specialist for travel to Fiji and other South Pacific islands. This complemented ID Travel’s longstanding operations servicing the outbound Australian market from its office in Singapore.

In 2022, ID Travel Group was proud to establish ID Vayeni AFRICA, in partnership with African-based Luke Brown, a renowned African conservationist and organizer of luxury safaris and African travel. Our exceptional African team has now grown substantially, giving ID Travel a widely praised African presence of true professionals “Born, Bred and Based” in Africa that provides truly exceptional local-based knowledge.

Since its inception, ID Travel Group has maintained its principal office in Larchmont, New York, USA, now with additional offices in London, Johannesburg, Singapore, and Melbourne.

In addition to Mr. Bonham-Carter, the worldwide business is now jointly owned by longstanding senior officers of the company, Laurie Palumbo and Padu Padmanaban, along with Paul Cleary, the CEO of CARIBTOURS in London, who became an officer of the parent company upon its merger with CARIBTOURS.

Maurice Bonham-Carter is also the founder of The ID Travel Group Foundation for Better Living, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities and enriching lives in countries where the ID Travel Group operates. The Foundation has endowed a graduate scholarship in perpetuity at Oxford University in Social Sciences, open to residents of certain Caribbean countries, where the Foundation perceives a critical need to elevate management skills.
